We are so excited to bring Splay to the Barefoot Brit shop. Born in Utah, USA, Splay was started by parents who wanted to reimagine the classic American sneaker without the restrictive, narrow shapes of traditional footwear. We love hosting them because they offer a refreshingly simple, no-nonsense approach to barefoot shoes that kids actually want to wear. They are the perfect mix of "cool sneaker" vibes and serious foot health.

The Splay philosophy is all about freedom: the freedom for feet to move, grow, and develop exactly as they were meant to. These shoes are designed with an extra-wide toe box that gives growing toes the space they need to splay naturally. Because they have completely flat, zero-drop soles and a super lightweight build, your child can run, jump, and climb with the kind of balance and ground feel that only barefoot-style shoes can provide.

Tough Enough for the Playground

Don't let the simple canvas look fool you. Splay shoes are built for real life. Most of their kids' models feature durable cotton canvas uppers reinforced with microfibre patches at the toe and heel the exact spots that usually take the most beating during a busy day at the park. They use high-quality vulcanised rubber for the soles, which means they are incredibly flexible but still provide plenty of grip and protection from the pavement.

One of the things we appreciate most about Splay is how easy they make the morning rush. Many of their designs feature a single, sturdy velcro strap, allowing even the youngest adventurers to put their own shoes on and off.
