What to Look For in Barefoot Shoes

Wide Toe Box

The front of the shoe is shaped to allow your toes to splay naturally, rather than being squeezed together. This improves balance and comfort.

Zero-Drop Sole

The heel and forefoot sit at the same height, promoting natural posture and alignment. Most conventional shoes raise the heel by 8 to 14mm.

Flexible Construction

Thin, flexible soles let your feet bend and feel the ground, strengthening foot muscles and improving proprioception with every step.

Fit and Comfort Room

As a general recommendation, adults need 8 to 12mm of space beyond their foot length, while children need 15 to 18mm of growing room.

Barefoot Shoes - Frequently Asked Questions

What are barefoot shoes? +
Barefoot shoes are footwear designed to let your feet move naturally. They feature wide toe boxes that allow toes to splay, zero-drop soles that keep your heel and forefoot level, and flexible construction that lets your feet bend and feel the ground.
How do I know what size to order? +
We measure every shoe's internal length in millimetres and match it to your foot measurements using the BarefootBrit Fit System. Start by following our step-by-step measuring guide, then complete the Shoe Match Assessment for personalised size recommendations.
Which brands do you stock? +
We carry a curated range from over 20 international barefoot brands including PaperKrane, BLUSUN, Origo, Magical Shoes and Froddo. See the full brand directory for every label we stock.
Are barefoot shoes suitable for beginners? +
Yes. If you are new to barefoot footwear, start with 1 to 2 hours of wear per day and gradually increase over 2 to 4 weeks. Our first-time buyer's guide covers everything you need to know before your first pair.
Do you offer school shoes? +
Yes, our barefoot school shoes collection includes leather uppers and smart designs that meet most school uniform requirements while supporting natural foot development.
Are barefoot shoes good for wide feet? +
Yes. The wide toe box is a defining feature of all barefoot shoes, making them ideal for anyone with wide feet. Browse our wide fit and extra wide collections, or see our bunion and toe pain range and read our Bunion Relief Guide if you need extra room.
What is your returns policy? +
We offer 30-day returns from the delivery date. Return postage is paid by the customer and we recommend using a tracked service. Outbound shipping is non-refundable.
How long does delivery take? +
Most orders are dispatched the same day when placed before 12 PM, Monday to Saturday. UK delivery typically takes 1 to 3 days, and shipping is free on orders over £130.
